Ring Setting Types
Share
The setting is how the stone is secured to the ring. It changes how the stone looks, how much light enters and how protected it is.

Prong
Small metal claws hold the stone up and let in the most light. The most common choice.
Bezel
A thin metal rim surrounds the stone. Very secure and smooth, which suits an active lifestyle.
Channel
Stones sit in a groove between two walls of metal. Common on bands.

Pave
Many small stones are held by tiny beads of metal, creating a sparkling surface.
Tension
The stone appears held by pressure between the two sides of the band. A modern, floating look.
Choosing
- Maximum sparkle: prong.
- Maximum protection: bezel.
- Low profile: channel or pave.
